시애틀에서 I-5 남쪽 방향 머서 스트리트로 향하던 중 졸음운전으로 약 40피트(12미터) 아래로 추락한 운전자가 별다른 부상 없이 구조됐다.
사고는 1월 22일 밤 I-5 남쪽 진입로에서 발생했으며, 운전자는 난간에 부딪힌 후 도로 옆 가장자리로 떨어져 40피트 아래로 추락했다고 경찰에 설명했다.
사고 현장에서 당시 운전자는 "졸음이 와서 잠시 잠이 들었다"고 진술했다.
다행히 운전자는 신속하게 구조되어 부상은 없었으나, 경찰은 현장에서 음주나 약물의 영향을 받은 것으로 의심하여 해당 운전자를 체포했다고 전했다.
