College Board의 새로운 디지털 SAT의 변동사항
1) 시험시간 : 3시간(기존) -> 2시간으로 단축
2) 시험형태 : 온라인/디지털
3) 시험장소 : 감독관이 있는 학교나 컬러지보드가 지정한 시험장 (가정에서 온라인 응시 불가능)
4) 시험가능 컴퓨터 : 개인컴퓨터, 태블릿PC, 주최측 대여컴퓨터
5) 모든 수학 분야에서 계산기 사용가능
6) 디지털 시험으로 인한 부정 응시 방지 대책 -> Question Bank을 사용하여 응시학생의 시험지 내용이 다 다름.
7) 시험결과가 빨리 발표
8) 새로운 시스템의 시험 동입시기 : 미국 응시생은 2024년 봄부터
해외 응시생들은 2023년 3월부터
9) 시험 오답시 감점은 없어짐.
College Board announced another round of changes to the SAT test, now called the "Digital SAT Suite of Assessments" or "SAT Suite" for short.
The biggest changes are that it's:
• shorter (2 hours instead of 3),
• online/digital,
• administered at school or at College Board testing centers, but
• students may use their own computers or a computer will be available for students to borrow,
• graphing calculators allowed on all math sections with students' own calculator allowed (certain restrictions on type of calculator allowed, but same restrictions as before) or a calculator emulator within the program of the test available,
• all tests will be different (probably questions drawn randomly from a massive question bank, as does the GRE, College Board's other computerized test),
• reading passages will be shorter with one question each (and will make selecting questions from a question bank more efficient)
• results will be available faster (although no news yet on how much faster),
• the new test will be rolled out at "international test centers in March of 2023 and at U.S. schools and test centers in spring of 2024" according to the timeline below (provided by College Board):
If you missed it, the changes already in effect are as follows: SAT II Subject Tests no longer offered, SAT Essay (optional section 5) no longer offered, SAT no longer has a guessing penalty, SAT has four answer choices (A, B, C, D) rather than five (up to E), SAT is based on a 1600 (highest) score system.
College Board abandoned plans to offer testing at home, since many problems arose in its at-home-testing trials during the Covid pandemic with students unable to have uninterrupted internet access for the three hours, with inadequate bandwidth issues, with access to technology at all in some households. The ACT, College Board's competitor, offers online testing for international test takers and for some US schools.
